August 2020: Balance and Blessings

August 2020

“Only when our feet learn once again to walk in a sacred manner, and our hearts hear the real music of creation, can we bring the world back into balance.”
- Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee

I’ve been hearing the “real music of creation” quite often of late around our wonderful island home … The young buck with velvety horns wandering by our garage; the masked raccoon peering up at me between the deck boards on our dock, from the tree alongside our deck, and finally in our garage just before making his getaway through the screen of the rear window; the glorious lilies smiling back from our pond; the bountiful, delicious chanterelles bursting forth from the floor of the forest; the monarch butterfly caterpillars crawling up the stems of my fennel (hope they didn’t mind when I relocated them to the milkweed in front!).

We’ve had good friends come to (safely) visit and I’m continually making new ones through yoga, tai chi and at the clinic.  Life is very full and I feel very blessed.  My challenge is to stay centered and balanced without trying to do too much.  I don’t always succeed, and as a result my body responded over the weekend with a whirl of its own, throwing me into a vertigo tumble that laid me flat.  When I get in touch through meditation, listening more deeply to my internal world, I develop an understanding of what my body is trying to tell me.

Research has proven, and I have learned through my own experience, that those who are in touch with the internal workings and messages of their body tend to heal faster.  Those messages are not always easy to hear or understand, but we can and should investigate.  Louise Hay, a cancer survivor and healer, states “dis-ease can be healed, if we are willing to change the way we think and believe and act.”  I hope you, too, are hearing the music!

Parting thought

“In the silence, we can drink deeply of the waters of life that are still pure; we can commune with the primal forces of nature; we can return to what is sacred and essential to our life and to the life of the earth."
Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee

Listen deeply to the wind, the waves, the rain, along with the internal messages of your body, heart and mind.   Enjoy the the laughter of good times, and the fullness of life while working to maintain a balance.
